Laurie Sorensen Guest Blog

Laurie Sorensen joins us today to share a little about herself, as well as introduce us to her new release, The Pirate Princess. I personally love the premise and am looking forward to reading it.

Do you prefer your heroes/heroines to be perfect or flawed?
I actually prefer my heroes/heroines to be flawed, no one is perfect and even if romance books are fictional, they shouldn't be made to appear that way. People like to think that they could be friends with the characters in the books they read, for me it would be difficult to be friends with a perfectly unflawed person, so yes, they have flaws.

Would you date your hero if he was a real person? Why or why not?
I wouldn't be allowed to date my hero...LOL, he's a Prince, and of course there is some etiquette about a prince dating a non-royal person. But, that aside, yes I would date him...I mean who wouldn't want to date him, he's blonde, he's built and his eyes are to die for. On top of that, his good looks aren't the whole package, he has a tender heart.

What sort of environment do you write in? Totally silent? TV in background? Playlist?
The environment I work in is best described as chaotic. I write whenever I sit down to use my computer. I have my email on one screen, Facebook on another screen, and my word document up at all times. I check messages, then I go back to writing. Sometimes the TV is on, but that's mainly just for some background noise. If I am home alone, I have music on it, streaming through my Dish Network Sirius channels. I have tried to write in the quiet, and it really is impossible for me to do that...so noise in the background helps me think better.

How do you feel when people you know/meet find out you write erotica?
The Pirate Princess is my first erotic/erotica type story, and my family and friends know about it. I'm not sure what my feelings are about it yet. They haven't read anything beyond the excerpt as yet, once they have read it, I'll know more about how I feel about it.

In three words, describe your favorite scene in this book.
Three words about my favorite scene, Well let's see - Tantalizing, Exciting, Thrilling

Blurb:
What does a princess do when she doesn’t want a prince? She escapes the prince's grasp, mere hours before he is to win her hand and she becomes a pirate. Travel the open seas with Princess Alvilda as she captains the Cryatus in the 14th century. She and her band of female pirates terrorize the Danish people while keeping just out of reach of the one person she wished to escape, Prince Alf. When he captures her ship and discovers her true identity, will he also capture her icy heart?

Excerpt:

The princess glanced over her shoulder again and imagined her mother still watching from her window.  Once more she touched her heart, grasped it and threw it in the direction of the castle.  She’d made good her escape.  She would be her own woman. She would answer to no one, but she would certainly miss her mother.
Will Alf be angry when he finds me gone?  No matter, I’m sure he will quickly get over the loss of me.
“We are well on our way, so keep watch and wake me only if there is no other choice.”  Alvilda slipped below decks and found her father’s cabin. Shutting the door, she collapsed on the berth.  Before long the heat of the enclosed space had her taking everything she wore off.  Confident they would not be followed for some time, Alvilda smiled as she lay on the bed and stretched her naked body over the roughhewn wool cover upon the bed.  He certainly was a handsome man, far more handsome than I remember. “Just stop it, he isn’t meant for you, no one is,” she said as she turned over onto her stomach and fell asleep.
His hands caressed her skin, lightly skimming over her back and across her buttocks then down the backs of her legs.  Alvilda arched her back; when she did her legs slightly spread open, giving him easier access to the treasure covered in golden curls. One hand slid between her legs and delved into the curls finding her most private parts, the hard little nub hidden from the world. Stroking that tiny button elicited a small moan in the back of her throat.  Encouraged, he rubbed harder and Alvilda drew her legs up, bringing herself onto her knees.
